I'll buy a book with a sub par story if the art is good, but if the art is lousy I won't.
If I wanted to read without enjoying illustrations along with it I'd read a novel.

Usually, great writing with average/bad art can still become classics. But while a book with great art and substandard story will sell, it won't be remembered in the long run.

Morlock Massacre had pretty bad art, but it is now one of the most remembered X storylines...........apart from the Dark Phoenix story and maybe one or two others.............
