When is Gambit Coming into the movies?

I have really enjoyed the x men movies but was rather mad to find out that the next movie will not contain Gambit. He is a great character and would be fun to see on the big screen. I heard that in x2 there was supposed to be scene with him in it and then it ended up on the cutting room floor.

I am hoping for X-Men 3 or X-Men 4.
