Tig is actually a game that the Hobbits played during the filming. If you were to listen to the cast commentary on the Extended version of the 1st film ( Fellowship ) Dom and Billy talk about playing it with Elijah...and how it was a big prank....
But what it did was spawn websites and now the Tig Party !
