Warner Bros. Pictures has commissioned Boaz Yakin ("The Rookie," "Remember the Titans"😉 to write the script for a motion picture based on the character Conan the Barbarian created by Robert E. Howard. The studio intends to ready the script for an early 2007 start.
"We are excited about working with Boaz and Paradox Entertainment to create what will be a successful and innovative series of motion pictures," said Jeff Robinov, President of Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.
The picture will be produced by Irving Azoff, Jon Jashni, Richard Alexander and Akiva Goldsman. The executive producers are Peter Sederowsky, President and CEO of Paradox Entertainment, and Fredrik Malmberg, Paradox Entertainment's Head of Licensing and Creative Affairs.
"Bringing Conan back to the big screen is an important goal for us. It's a thrill to be working alongside such talented people as Boaz, Jon, Akiva, and especially the executives at Warner Bros. in this major undertaking," added Sederowsky.
Red Sonya is being remade as well, http://www.superherohype.com/news.php?id=4176

Would this mean another edition of Arnold's Conan films on DVD when this one gets released? What is the betting? What IS the betting?
It certainly would....
Superman Returns was released this year and now all Christopher Reeve Superman films are being re-released on to DVD later this year including a never before released version of Superman II. It's safe to say we'll be seeing a three or four disc set of Arnie's Conan films being released along the same time as the big screen addition and likely with deleted scenes we haven't seen before.
