TPM novel = author's intrepretation of the movie. It is NOT canon and it is not verified by GL word for word.
And where the hell in Dark Rendesvouz does it say that, because I coulda swore I read that book and I didn't read that at all.

It's more canon than your crap about Makashi. Where did you guys hear Dooku used this, anyway?

Uh, I think somehwere in the rematch between Yoda and Dooku. Maybe I'll type the exact words here later, tomorrow or something, but not now.

OMG... you really are uninformed.
Hey guys, I made up Makashi. I didn't really read that Nick Gillard created the seven forms of lightsaber combat for the PT movies, and that he named Dooku's form Makashi, or Form II. I must be some idiot full of crap unlike darthsith19...
Please, STFU

Okay, where did you read that NG created the 7 forms of lightsaber combat? From starwars.com
Did Nick Gillard create "the seven forms of lightsaber combat" and will they be used in Episode III?
Nick Gillard didn't create the 7 forms and he also got a little upset when he wasn't consulted when the 7 Forms were first published, that is all EU. When asked about Vaapad (Form VII) in a Celebrity chat, Mr. Gillard was unaware of it's existence and he said that Mace would not be using it in EPIII.
Now, who am I likely to believe, a lowly KMC member or a starwars.com Moderator? Uh, hmm, lets see here, uh, sorry Janus, until you post a link or tell me where you heard about this Makashi shit you lose.
And here's your source's authority...
"If you ask, say, the "Ask the Jedi Council" on this site, they'd probably tell you that the novels are considered canon, which is why I call it "officially canon." However, many, like me, believe ONLY the movies to be canon, because they are the only thing that CANNOT be changed. The Obi-Wan/Owen brother's thing is a good example of that. How can that novel be canon if it has been changed? That's a topic for another time, though."
These aren't the mouthpieces of GL and you're stupid for thinking they are... they're like any other moderator on this earth; they're people who were given domain over a section of a forum. Even if that forum is from starwars.com, it doesn't make them the official authority. If it did, this man would not be having a dispute with novels being canon, since GL would have his say directly and there wouldn't be any dispute. None, because they would be parroting the words of GL. But in this case, it's a toss up and it's generally accepted by the moderators of the forum that novels are canon. So by his own admission, if novels are canon, that Vaapad (As you said in another thread, "was totally shit"😉 stands. Your source cannot champion only your views and shoot down mine; they clearly support EU novels as information sources as well. Nice try, kid.
Then I went up to check the moderator's source. Here's what I found:
"I have not had the time to sort through all of these responses myself: many represent the views of your fellow posters and not necessarily myself - and certainly no one official. Therefore, as always, unless the answer says it's officially confirmed, take things with a grain of salt."
Wow, look at that. None of this is officially confirmed and it could all be rumor.
And here's your moderator's profile link:
http://forums.starwars.com/profile.jspa?userID=488895
Says he's a 23 year old student. Majoring in Chemical engineering. I didn't see George Lucas' nephew on there at all.
So your source is just as good as say, a lowly KMC member. If anything, that post is pre-ROTS... which means I would have the more up-to-date information.
Tell you what... you find me an official source or copy of that chat where Nick Gillard loses his mind over Vaapad, and I'll admit you're right. But until then, STFU, you KMC hatin' punk.

Woah...what a big pile of BS...
Just to tell you: Go and buy the ROTS novelisation. There you will probably read following things:
a) Dooku is using form II called Makashi
b) Obi-Wan is using form III called Soresu and is faking to use form IV (Ataru) first in the fight against Dooku
c) Anakin is using form V (Djem So) and is faking to use form VI (Niman) in the fight against Dooku
d) Yoda is using form IV (Ataru)
e) Mace Windu is using a form called Vaapad (which is not form VII).
So...what can be thrusted more: The moderator or the ROTS novel. And btw. the moderator has great informations. LOL. Lets have a look at it:
"During the opening space battle. Anakin and Obi-Wan end up on the Separatist Cruiser somehow. The fight 2 on 1, Grievous shows up and Obi-Wan leaves to fight Grievous. Anakin and Dooku continue, Anakin somehow gets a hold of Dooku's saber and then whoops! There goes his head." - obviously not the truth
"Will we see the Jedi Purge in Episode III?
Not much of it. Anakin storms the Jedi Temple killing all Jedi within. That's all we're gonna see though." - we've seen more of it...
And just to add it: The 7 forms of lightsaber combat are not only mentioned in the ROTS novel they are also mentioned in the KOTOR games and serveral other sources. So they are part of the overall star wars canon. At least they are more "canon" than any comment of a moderator on the SW.com forums. If you read your own source they even tell you that he isn't always right (spoilers only).

1. Arn't you only 23 too?
2. Where's your source about Makashi?
3. Vandaronas could have gotten that from NC anywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if he had actually met NG somehwere. Or read it in an e-mail, maybe a Homing Beacon or something.
4. Movie novels are canon. If, however, they are contridicted by a movie, GL or someone who takes a role int he movies, an employee who works for Lucas the movie/Lucas will always win and in some cases the employee may win. For example, NG can contridict the novels as far as lightsabers and lightsaber fighting goes.
Please tell me where you heard about Makashi.

Jesus, you again?
1. No, 22.
2. Uh, let's see. EU novels and sources, which are considered official by Lucasarts and its branchesunless they totally contradict the movies. And since Makashi hasn't been officially stricken from the record, I'm assuming it doesn't contradict, even with Nick Gillard. After all, it's just the name of Form II, which Nick DID create. So what the hell is your point? I could call Yoda Mister Bob, and he's still Yoda. Does this solve anything for you?
3. Yeah, uh huh. And I have lunch with GL on Saturdays. Prove up, man. Anyone with EU under their belt recognizes Makashi; it's not like I brought it up out of thin air. But here you come saying you have a source which says that another source says that Gillard doesn't approve of Vaapad. Not Makashi, the 'archaic' name of Form II. So really, you're the one here who needs to square yourself away. Even if NG doesn't agree with Vaapad, it stands as EU itself (in this EU subforum, I say again) until it's officially overturned as canon or 'quasi-canon', which is where novels fit in.
4. And for this last one, if you hope to prove anything here or in the future, show quotes from good sources (Not random moderator at a forum at a site that needs heavy updating as it is) and then the official statement from Lucasarts that says any actor, choreographer, stagehand or other employee of the large and multibranched Lucasfilm can easily overturn anything that is already officialized by the company, unless it is GL himself, CEO.
Thanks for playing "What the hell do you have to come back with now" Sorry for your loss. Better luck next time!

Bah...It's mentioned at least in the ROTS novel and in the KotoR games. So it's real. Accept it.
3. Vandaronas could have gotten that from NC anywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if he had actually met NG somehwere. Or read it in an e-mail, maybe a Homing Beacon or something.
Take a look at his other statements on the film which are obviously wrong. It's clear that he relies on some sources that doesn't tell him the truth. Now...what should Nick Gillard do in a celebrity chat ? He is a stuntman not a Hollywood star and it doesn't matter what Gillard created or not and how he named it. If the ROTS novel states that Dooku uses a form called Makashi and the KotoR games state that this is the ultimate form of lightsaber vs lightsaber combat it is canon - nothing to discuss. If the ROTS novel states that Mace is using a form called Vaapad that is also canon - again nothing to debate. So stop it.
4. Movie novels are canon. If, however, they are contridicted by a movie, GL or someone who takes a role int he movies, an employee who works for Lucas the movie/Lucas will always win and in some cases the employee may win. NG has exactly nothing to say here. If Lucas himself says something than it's canon. If something in the novels contradict the movies the movies are considered as canon. Now the lightsaber forms aren't contradicting the movies and NG hasn't got any more authority than the game designers for KotoR or the novel writers. And we don't have any proof for this statement coming from him so this is BS anyway...
Please tell me where you heard about Makashi.
Get it. It's mentioned in basically thousands of sources including the ROTS novel and the KotoR games.

1. Okay, 22, so your even younger.
2. Nick says he didn't create the 7 forms of lightsaber combat. Again, see my source. Call my source crap all you want, at least I have a source. I'm still waiting to hear where you heard NG talk about Dooku using Makashi.
3. No, you don't have lunch with GL on sundays. And your not a starwars.com Moderator. And Vandaronas is also one of the original moderators. he could have heard it anywhere, from an e-mail he gets from Lucasfilm or he could have met NG, people have met him, or he could have heard it from an Admin, and the admins work for Lucas.
4. NG created the sbaer fighting and all the saber stuff in the movies. therefor he has alot of say about lightsaber combat, more than anyone except Lucas. He certainly has more saay about it than some E.U. writer or you. And Vanadronas is no random moderator and say all the bad stuff you want about starwars.com but it doesn't matter because it's the official site.
Goodbye, see you soon, I expect, though I'd rather not.
