Nightwings animal?

what is nightwings animal, it cant be a bat that would make him too much under batmans shadow. Guessing from the cartoon its an eagle, but im not so sure about omic continuinity, could anyone shed some light on this please

Supes gave him the insperation from a Kryptonian hero that had pretty much the same design. So if you want to know more...go ask Superman.

Yeah but not a specific bird or he would hav to take on the name of that bird. Like if it were an Eagle...he'd be EagleWing.

Even bird is to specific, or he'd be Bird-Wing.

And he does'nt want that. It's just a WING-ED CREATURE.
