VERY brief synopsis:
ID crisis: Sue dingby (elongated man's wife) is killed by jean palmer (the atom's wife). Robin's dad is killed. It is revealed that Dr Light raped Sue a while ago, and 7 JLA members (green arrow, green lantern, hawkman, zatanna and some others) wiped his mind. Batman was about to confront them, but then they mindwiped him. Superman knew what happenned but didnt tell anybody.
Countdown:
Checkmate Kills Blue Beetle, and batman remembers what the JLA did to him.
OMAC:
The OMAC project was created by batman years ago to observe metahuman activity to protect humanity from metahuman control. It was stolen by Maxwell Lord, who re-educated it to believe that the only way to protect humans from metahumans was to kill all meta's. Lord Mind-controlled superman into fighting batman and the JLA, making him think that he was fighting doomsday. Max Lord also made superman believe that he was his father. Wonderwoman followed superman after the superman/batman encounter, and fought with him, eventually killing max lord and releasing supes from his control, although superman wont ever forgive her for killing his 'father'.
Rann/Thanagar War:
following on from Adam Strange's mini-series. Thanagar has been transported into the polaris system and been destroyed. Rann and thanagar are at war, with the tamaranians siding with Rann. A cult is controlling the thanagarian government, and is planning to ressurect Ominnar Synn, a vampiric evil bad guy.
Return of Donna Troy:
Donna has been reborn as a titan, and is being used by them to help win a war. They are desperate to seize control of a certain planet, as it has a factory for creating sun-eaters.
Villains United:
Loads of DC villains (luthor, talia, deathstroke, dr.light etc..) get together and discover the true identities of the JLA.
Day of Vengeance:
After gaining his freedom after GL:rebirth, the spectre joins forces with his alter-ego counterpart, eclipso. Together they try to destroy all magic in the DCU.
So now we have:
OMAC project: Eliminating terran meta-humans
Rann/Thanagar/Tamaranian War: Eliminating major alien empires
Day of Vengeance: Eliminating all magic users
Villains United: Eliminating family members of the JLA and revealing their secret identities.

Lucifer has joined the final battle against the hordes of the lillim and their archangel brothers (who are attacking heaven), and the silver city (The DC version of heaven that exists at the edge of the universe) has fallen!!!!
