Death is just the separation of the Spirit from the Physical body. The sad part is that although your Soul/Spirit may go on forever(because it is the same essence with the Spirit of God), your body is mortal flesh. That means you age, get wrinkled, get sick, feel pain, and eventually will DIE. You are not afraid of dying, NO, what you really are afraid of is what is beyond death, and as far as everyone is concerned no one really knows. But you can take a chance and gamble, me i believe in Jesus, true you're making a huge gamble with this, but it is better than not to, because the alternative of this is the unknown and that is what you fear the most.
Jesus required only one thing from us and that is found in John 3:16 "For God loved the whole world so much(the people of the world) that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever BELIEVES in HIM should not perish(suffer in everlasting death by fire), but have ETERNAL life(like God and the Angels)."

He strongly interpreted and elaborated on that quote as if he somehow has the right to alter the word of God.
I wonder why it said "perish" which means "to pass away or disappear" (though maybe in a violent manner) and not "be tormented in hell forever". Maybe God wanted to say something with that. Maybe...just maybe, we shouldn't alter his words (of course it is already translated and even if it ever was the word of God it is just some book that goes along the lines of it now).

Did you ever talk to god? Did you see him when he wrote the book? Did you just missed all the obvious language differences, and the miss translations the differences between ancient and new bibles? If there is only one true Bible then how do you know which one it is? How can you be sure? The Catholic Church was the one that decided what would be in the bible, perhaps they didn't write the books but they sure as hell choose which one to listen too and which one's not too..
Explain the dead sea scrolls if you think that the bible was fair, those books the Gospel of Judas, Mary Magdeline and perhaps even Jesus himself were not in the bible for a reason. You think that reason was god? Then why have they been found now? Do you honestly think God missed a few of the scrolls? Is He really that stupid?
No the books you read and put all these faith in are just a few of all of the books. The one's the Catholic Church decided to listen too. That is your bible my friend a book of Catholic propaganda.
