Liking a hot person (in your case a girl, in mine a guy) is NOT shallow whatsoever. I find Tom Cruise incredibly good looking, but my sister finds him really ugly. It really is all just opinion. I find 50 Cent uglier then a dog's ass, but every girl in the world thinks he's hot. But who knows, he may have a great personality. Batman stop ragging on him because he has a hot topless girl in his signature. You started the damn thing by saying you don't like ugly girls. THAT was shallow. Shallow is NOT saying "oh that person is hot" or "I'd like to bang her/him" because it's a physical attraction. So what if he doesn't find some girl physically attractive, someone else does. Yes, ignore it like a mature person. Don't sink to their level, apologize to them and if they don't apologize back for what they said they didn't deserve the apology in the first place. You'll be the bigger man, and anyone with sense will see it.
all i have to say is that chemistry between two people is more than just looks. physical attraction is a part of it, but if someone is a total and complete ass or b!tch, then there beauty is only skin deep. you can't make a relationship work purely on looks alone. there needs to be something there. some substance. something that connects and relates you to that person.
