First Dawn
Part 1
Adam Windsor woke up and quickly put on a jacket. He headed for the door and walked out of his apartment to go to his work. Adam didn’t have a normal job per say; he was a narcotics operative for the police. His first action always each morning was to report to the nearest police station for a check up and if he had any leads to who was bringing in all the recent drugs. As he was walking, he noticed an unusual amount of clad in raw leather. He went up to one of them and asked, “What’s happenin’? Are you guys here for a fair or sumthin?” The man just looked at Adam with no signs of emotion and kept walking. Adam yelled as the guy was walking away, “Not the social type, Eh?”
Adam kept on and walking and soon found himself in the police station. “Hey Claire,” Adam says as he addresses the woman at the counter, “I need to see the chief before 9:00. Can you get him?”
“Sure thing Adam”. She says with a wink. After about 5 minutes, the Chief came out and started to bring Adam to his office. On the way, the chief started to complain about things breaking out all over the city. “We’ve had 20 9-1-1 calls in the last 10 minutes, all them about some stranger clad in leather beating other people. I’m spread thin Adam, very thin”. The chief ranted.
As they were walking back to the chief’s office, they heard a scream from outside and saw the same men that ignored Adam coming towards the station. “What the hell is this?” yelled one of the police officers filing some papers. His answer was soon answered when the TV went to a special report. The newscaster soon came on, “The government is advising people to stay inside after they were sent multiple videos showing brutal killings of civilians by a group of people wearing what seems to be medieval armour”.
The newscaster was cut short of his report because right then the power went out. “Everyone, get your asses up! Now!” After that, the chief turned to Adam, “I need you to go to the armory and get out the weapons. Move Adam!” Adam ran over to the armory and started to pull everything off and give it to people s they moved by. Shotguns, rifles, pistols, and even riot sticks were given out to combat the people outside. Soon, the armory was empty and then everyone was in the briefing room.
“People, we have a crisis on our hands. I need you to go around and find the following officers to help us out”. He looked out into the crowd, figuring out who to send. “Windsor, Hill, and James. I need you to get Chris Stevens and bring him to me. He’s one of our best shots and I’m relying on you to bring him here”. The three nodded and started for the door as the Chief assigned others to get Jackson, Louis, and Smart. Adam and his partners were the first ones to go out onto the street.
They found themselves almost surrounded by these inhuman killers. Adam started to shoot through them with help from his partners and the cops in the precinct. As they ran to 52nd Street and Chris Stevens, they passed hundreds of dead bodies, all mutilated by clubs and some seemed to have been cut by swords also. Soon they started to get bogged down by the brutish men, but were able to get out of them through their skill with a gun.
“Damnit, their all over. Where the hell did they come from?” Vince James asked as they started to find themselves low on ammo. “I don’t have a ****ing clue to be honest Vince. They seem to come out of nowhere and just kill everything, not caring if it was an innocent civilian, a cop, or a pregnant woman”. Lindsay Hill said as they past a dead body of a pregnant woman and a cop who seemed to die protecting her. Soon they were at the beginning of 52nd Street, almost out of ammo and ready to find Chris. “This place was hit hard and fast”. Vince remarks as they walk down the road, which is almost impassable because of the amount of bodies.
They soon came upon Chris’ apartment building, with no ammo and sick because of all the carnage they saw. As they approached the building, Adam looked down to see Chris’ body limp and dead from a stab directly through the stomach. “It seems we now we came here for nothing. Let’s start back”.
“No!” retorts Vince, who sounds appalled by this idea, “I’m out, you’re out, and so I Lindsay. We can’t go on without more ammo”.
“If we don’t, were going to die here anyways. We might as well make a run for it, and hope to get back to where we can make a stand”.
Lindsay determined to end this argument, reaches down to Chris’ body and takes his keys along with his gun that was lying beside him. “Chris always keeps spare ammo in his apartment. We can reload there and go back. It’s out best bet guys”.
To Be Continued.
