Background: Former Turk turned freelancer. Cid abandoned ShinRa after he learned ShinRa's darkest secrets. His strong moral & ethical code prevented him from continuing working for ShinRa & the turks. Cid joined ShinRa upon finding out his father--whom he had no relation with at all since Cid was raised by a foster family--was a high level Turk.
During his time as a turk he befriended Reno and Rude. The trio constantly argued about which was a better place for vacations: Costa Del Sol or Wutai; during assignments. Cid had quit the Turks before the events of the Nibelheim Crisis and only after he learned of ShinRa's genetical monstrosities being created in that reactor. Little did he know he could have avoided all the strife brought upon by a legendary SOLDIER known as Sephiroth.
Currently Cid lives the life a lonewolf. He has no family since his foster family was murdered by ShinRa after Cid's "betrayal." Eventhough his childhood was harsh, and life has never given him a break since then; Cid is full of humor and optimism. Cid is visually recongizable for his long black hair tied in a ponytail and his deep blue eyes. Usually he is seen wearing a silver variant of the Turks' regular suit. His extensive training includes mastery over stealth, automatic rifles and an extensive knowledge of materia. Eventhough he prefers ranged combat he wields 2 short swords for when the battle gets up close and personal. He loves the idea of testing his sword skills without the aid of materia--which is the reason why the materia slots in his 2 short swords remain empty.
Cid is currently investigating ShinRa in order to learn more about his deceased biological father.

Out of Character: "Does that work?"
Cid stands on top of a damaged structure. He is thinking to himself if he would ever find the man that defeated Sephiroth. No vendetta against him. The former Turk simply wishes to test his skills in combat against the warrior that managed to outclass the legendary SOLDIER.
Deep blue eyes scan the desolate surface of ShinRa's headquarters. "They had it coming..." he says. Cid never agreed with ShinRa's corrupted unethical procedures.
All of a sudden the loud, heavy roar of an engine catches Cid's attention. Turning his head 45 degrees to the right, Cid notices an approaching dust cloud. His lips form a smirk, and Cid jumps off the structure he was standing on. He lands swiftly on his feet and pockets his right hand. The long black hair contrasting with the silver colored turk suit he wears.
"Hmm...Who could that be?" Cid asks himself.
Indeed it was former SOLDIER wanna be Cloud Strife. The delivery boy was running an errand for Cid Highwind. Searching for spare parts for repairments. Cloud walks the barren field of what was once Midgar until Cid recognizes him.
"It is him...Strife."
Mr. Loire chuckled and inmediately jumped into action. While being airborne Cid grabs a grenade in his belt. He throws it with pinpoint accuracy as the grenade lands before Cloud's feet. The ex-SOLDIER rolls away from the explosion and grips the hilt of the First Tsurugi while regaining his footing.
"Who the hell are you and what do you want?" An angry Cloud shouted. Tired of the constant attacks his life has revolved around.
"I merely wish to test my talents against yours Mr. Strife." The former turk responded with an optimistic tone.
Inmediately after his words were spoken Cid grabbed his assault rifle and aimed it straight at Cloud's torso. In the same maneuver Cid crouches to have better accuracy. He fires 3 controlled bursts.
Cloud Strife dodges the bullets and springs into action by leaping towards Cid and bringing the weight of First Tsurugi down on him at a vertical angle.
Countering by sidestepping, Cid brings his left knee up to meet Cloud's lower back in success as the Ex-SOLDIER shows pain in his facial expressions. Then Cid attempts to grab hold of Cloud's sword, but the Ex-SOLDIER is quick on his feet and counters by throwing Cid over his shoulder.
Landing hard on the ground Cid rolls forward to get some distance between him and his opponent. Cloud lunges at Cid before he can recover his pace, and the former turk finds himself losing the assault rifle. However Cid unsheathes both short swords and crosses them diagonally between each other to repell Cloud's attack.
Both fighters lock blades and engage in a contest of brute force. The weight of Cloud's weapon is quick to give him the advantage. However years upon years of training and experience with the turks have made Cid a resourceful combatant. Cid looks at Cloud's Mako-infused eyes and smirks
"Guess you won't see this coming..."
Talking smack during combat was always effective. It could distract an opponent and give you their shatterpoint if you're quick on your feet and reaction time. With that said Cid lifts his left foot off the ground and sends it downwards at Cloud's knee. The Ex-SOLDIER did not expect such a move and he finds himself in pain, losing his momentum. It is during this precise moment that Cid pushes onward to disrupt Cloud's balance. At the same time Cid swings both shorts swords outwards in a horizontal manner; removing Cloud's grip over the First Tsurugi and leaving him essentially defeated.
However Cloud Strife had earned his reputation as a 1st Class Warrior. Cloud sent an elbow straight at Cid's gut, and Cid completely lost his air. The chocobo haired warrior gripped Cid's wrists and pressed hard, forcing Cid to drop his swords. Cid realizes he is about to lose the battle, and he headbutts Cloud with all his might, even jumping off his feet.
The move stunned both combatants as they each took a couple of step backwards....and then the unpredictable happened: both of them were struck by a huge lightning bolt. Had they not been busy fighting each other they would have seen it coming...but alas they did not. Their bodies hit the ground hard. From the darkness emerged 3 large hulked figures. Only 1 of them is enough to grab Cloud & Cid by their ankles and drag them along.
"Take them to our master...I am sure she will find uses for these 2." One of the hulksters exclaimed as both fighters were taken hostage.
