Marvel recognized it as canon as they put in their Avengers timeline. DC did when the followed up the story in JLA.

Indirectly, and with the help of Flash and Superman.

Not everyone was portrayed correctly, but that happens in comics with so many characters, even ones done inside company holdings, rather than crossover.
