So in the span of 2 hours gas went from $2.69 to $2.99(american) tonight as I drove to and from dodgeball night. In Las Vegas here and though I can afford the price at the moment, what do people do when it hits $4+. I drive 10miles a day and my wife 20 to and back to work making us fill up every four days or so.

I feel for you people with a big truck or SUV.

What irks me about the situation mostly is that the gas that is in the gas station pump tank was most likey last weeks supply. Why does that 2.50 gas all of a sudden go to 3+ a gallon when they payed last weeks price.

So how long before the ripple effect happens with everything you buy? Everything we use will go up. When does it end? Maybe the US should think about building new refinerys while the EPA suspended all environmental bans or whatever that deal with gas now before they can ***** 🙂

Hope everyone in SE US is getting along alright btw.

in Norway it is $ 6,40...............so whining about gas prices kind of fall short handed...................as for why gas prices rices its because of the market controls the level of the price regardless if the tanks have last weeks supply in it.

Not whining at all. Just concerned.

Going from a say $100/month bill to a $400/month bill in 1 year is a little hard to budget if you don't have that extra income. Not to mention all the other costs from the ripple.

Btw, if there wasn't some complaint or another then what else would we fill the general forums up with 😱

welcome to the real world

useful stuff?

$2.99 a gallon for someone who fills up their tank 3 times a week 😗 is a lot worse than $4.99 a gallon for someone who fills up their tank every 2 weeks.

That's who should be complaining.

$2.99 a gallon for someone who fills up their tank 3 times a week is a lot worse than $4.99 a gallon for someone who fills up their tank every 2 weeks
and why wouldnt someone who has to pay $4.99 a gallon have the same need to fill it up as often as those who pays $2.99?

gas is $3.09 per gallon here today...........I won't start complaining until it reaches $4.00 though. I realize the hurricane's impact on our oil industry at the moment........just have to wait it out.

for Europeans........you're speaking apples and oranges, "we pay ____ amount so quit whining about you paying less". There's a difference.........all of your shit is imported. Ours isn't. We have a multibillion dollar oil industry ourselves here in America............

you comparing the price of your imported goods to the price of American produced goods in America is just ridiculous.

we dont import our oil in Norway

In historical context crude oil isn't at it's most expensive (when you adjust for inflation).
May I suggest to those complaining about having to pay more for petrol - maybe you should just drive less and/or you should have bought a more economic car? Yes, the hurricane and instability in the Middle East are artificially inflating prices - however at it's core the underlying increase in crude oil price is still demand-driven. Besides it's inevitable that (although these current inflated prices are likely to subside) crude oil is going to become more expensive over time and unless alternatives start being considered more seriously there's nothing we'll be able to do except pay more for transport.

. We have a multibillion dollar oil industry ourselves here in America............
by the way US import over 60% of its oil

I see what you mean, but I'm just saying the people who have to drive many, many miles to and from work are the ones who are suffering the most.

If I spend $60 to fill up my tank and live 2 minutes from work, I'll take that any day over a $30 fillup and a 60 mile trek.

Indeed

on that we can agree, I live so close to work I can walk, Monika has a 20 min drive to work so I aint in the worst spot though, even so yesterday it was $6,40 a gallon today the shit hit the fan....over 12 Norwegian crowns(NOK) a litre, Us gallon being 3,8 litre and one dollar is 6.45 NOK well it means the price of gallon is....12*3,8%6,45 =$7.06 a gallon

I'm good Finti, how are you?
excellent

actually America imports 56% of it's oil............the greatest portion of this 56% from Canada............ the second greatest portion from Mexico.......our neighbors with great trade agreements.

Finti........If Norway doesn't import oil.......and they are charging you $6.40 per gallon of gas..........I believe your country should start as the concept of supply and demand has run amuck in your country. It seems in your country's particular situation, new legislature needs to occur. I realize Norway produces a lot of oil.......we here in America even import some of it from you...........perhaps your government should step into the industry and regulate the amount of oil Norway exports to increase it's local supply.......bringing the cost down.

Norway is the exception in Europe. It has a good oil industry compared to it's population. The UK also has an oil industry......but is next to nothing when compared with it's population, those this oil industry must supply oil to.

it is kind of f*ucked up I mean as the worlds 3 largest oil exporter we find dont find it understandable that we have to pay so much for gas, when you look into the matter you will se on the gas price of 12.30 NOK 8,36 NOK is tariff and taxes or 67,97% is tax😠 😠 😠
A barrel is today $ 55, the American investmaent bank Goldman Sachs predicts a barrel price on $ 105!!!!!!!! time to get your bikes peeps out this is 1973 all over again just other way around

Norway is the exception in Europe. It has a good oil industry compared to it's population
Russia has enormous resources of Oil

yes they do........I always overlook russia when thinking of Europe........good call.

moot point as I don't see any Russians posting in here about, "you americans need to quit whining...we pay _____ for gas!"........

Yikes, its $3.08 here in Dallas, and very likely to reach $4.00.
I start my new job on Tuesday and will be driving a total of 60 miles a day. 😱

As far as not complaining because Europeans have been paying much higher prices for decades: They drive less, many dont own cars, your urban centers are very small and concentrated, public transportation is very integrated and advanced.

American cities were built around the automobile. Our urban centers are extremely vast and sprawling, you need a car to get everywhere and anywhere, public transportation (aside from NYC) is very under developed and mainly used by the poor.

We use way more gas than the average European because we have no other choice. The automobile and cheap gas prices have made our country as prosperous as it is.

There's no way we can cut down on our driving or rebuild our metropolitan areas. We just need to come up with cheaper fuel sources to power our vehicles.

Our "complaining" is justified.

that's ****ed up. I'm paying more for gas in a pissant little town in Kentucky than Tex is in a huge city like Dallas..............

is it okay with the Europeans if I atleast whine about that?........I mean, the cost of living differential is huge between our two areas.........which means there is a huge pay scale differential.........yet the lower end is paying more for gas at the moment.
