Chav is slang for "child" in certain southern areas.

That's why its used in a derogitory fashion. Chavs are immature, uneducated, child-like buffoons of society. Chav is a word that describes them quite accurately.

The word may have meant something else in a bygone era, but it doesn't mean anything racist whatsoever.

Everyone knows that KMC rules the world. Not Britain. British pubs however, with there bangers, may rule the universe. Or were those Irish pubs? 😕 All I know is that there is this place called The Mucky Duck, and they have the best bangers.
