Technically, colours don't exist. They're just determined by what kinds of light an object absorbs or reflects. Eg: a red shirt, a blue shirt and a green shirt in a dark, light-less closet are the same "colour" (because there's no other term really).

"Colour" is just a friendly way of defining the way in which electromagnetic rays reflect (or come from) an object that are perceivable by us humans
