Horror Magazine - "Rue Morgue"
Everyone knows about Fangoria, just thought id let you know about this mag.
Rue Morgue Issue 49 :
The front cover grabs you right away as it features the rejected artwork for Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Disturbing stuff to say the least. It just gets better once you flip that first page though. Aside from their always excellent regular features we this month get treated to what may be the most complete retrospective on a film I have ever read. Covering the 20 year legacy of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Rue Morgue really tears into the meat of this classic film and brings to light some truly disturbing and interesting pieces of information.
Once you sift through the extensive coverage afforded to Henry there is barely time to breath and then it is onto the Tombs of the Blind Dead. This often overlooked series of classic zombie fare is given the royal treatment as the RM gang has unearthed a lost interview with director Amando De Ossorio and also compiled The Complete Guide to Templar Terror where all 4 films are discussed. Awesome stuff.
There is also extensive coverage of Fantasia 2005 and a great feature on GWAR. And that is just really scratching the surface of this issue.
I have heard a lot of other folks give Rue Morgue a bad rap for all the ads that they run but I have got to tell you, I love the ads. RM has done a great job of offering up ad space to not only the heavy hitting film makers but the indie scene is very well represented and I find it a great tool for finding out about little known projects
To summarize you need to head out to your local newsstand, bookseller or where ever else you may have to go to find this latest issue of Rue Morgue buy it and tear into what is fast becoming one of the best genre mags around.
