Outrunning the shield is going to be a problem for anyone...even Spider-man. Captain America is talented enough to outwit most people so I would expect he would take down almost anyone with his shield.
The supersoldier was designed for battlefield so takeing out groups in close combat doesn't seem out of place.

We've seen what happened in AvX. Steve stomps.
