Alright. Knuckles Heat Punch Attack thingy is no where near as fast as lightspeed attack. It moves maybe a little faster then his gliding while Shadow's is doing circles around a fast moving object.

That was a DRAW. Knuckles did not defeat Sonic and Sonic did not defeat Knuckles. The fact Chaos Emeralds fell from Sonic does not mean anything. Hey, Obi-Wan's lightsaber was knocked away from him by Jango and yet Obi didn't lose and Obi didn't win.

Knuckles' tasks was to get the MASTER emerald pieces from Sonic. Sonic never had Master Emerald pieces so Knuckles didn't win. Sonic's task was to keep Knuckles away from the CHAOS Emeralds. Eggman got the Chaos Emeralds, not Knuckles, so Sonic completed his task so Sonic won.

No, Knuckles said 'Hand over the emerald now!' showing that Knuckles was trying to get the emeralds from Sonic. Sonic on the other hand was trying to keep them away from Knuckles which he did. Knuckles didn't get the emeralds (Chaos Emeralds or Master Emerald pieces) so Sonic completed his task. Sonic wins and Knuckles goes back to Angel Island and cries over the Master Emerald. Shadow defeated Sonic while fighting Diablon.

Knuckles WAS trying to get the emeralds from Sonic. He said 'Hand over the emerald/Give me the emerald/what ever he said to Tails' meaning 'I want the emerald' meaning Knuckles was trying to get the emeralds from Sonic for himself. Sonic on the other hand was trying to keep Knuckles away from the emeralds and he did. Sonic completed his task and Knuckles failed. And oh yeah the Chaos Emeralds can negate the Master Emerald's power.
