OK so here are the facts c3p0 had been living on the lars homestead and he recognised padme and anakin even though he had not seen them for 10 years
so it comes back to the same old question in a new hope how come he didn't say oh master own its me c3p0 I used to live here and also on the subject of the lars home anakins mother was buried there so don't you think it is not a very good place to hide the young Luke skywalker what if Vader had returned to see the grave and stumbled upon him you know how powerful the dark side is he could have sussed out Luke was his son

I hope in episode 3 George does something with the droids that erases their memory otherwise I'm going to be very disappointed

all this thinkin' about who he should've remembered but didn't and why ..and how instead it should have been........it makes me dizzy....woo

Their memories would have to have been erased. It is actually pretty likely now because the droids had been left begind at the Geonasian Arena.

Well, they were at Anakin's wedding.

And what does them being left behind at the Arena have to do with anything?

Well, I bet Luke knows about the grave.

Unless Owen and Beru know where it is so they took down the grave stones so that Luke wouldn't know about his family's horrible past.

I noticed something about the graves. There's three. Shmi, Cliegg's dead wife, and then a smaller grave. A dead child maybe? 😕

I don't think that Luke would be affected by his grandma's grave, it wouldn't show him his family's "horrible past".

I wondered about that third stone in another thread. I could only guess at another child, perhaps killed in an accident or even stillborn, who knows ? Is it in the novel ? I haven't read the bloody thing yet.

And if they had been left at the Arena then they would have been taken by someone else, taken into their service, and possibly the new owners would have erased the memories.

3PO has never met Obi-Wan, and he really has no idea who R2 is. R2 knows who he is though.

A little while ago at theforce.net, they had some information about an interview someone had with George Lucas about Episode 3 in which George Lucas said that the droids would get their memory erased.

why does DARTH VADER stop Bobba Fett from shooting chewbacca with 3po on his back at the freezing chamber in ESB?

does he remember he built c-3po?

Or maybe he didn't want a howling Wookiee and stray blaster fire. But, yes, it's a possibility he remembers 3PO. But when GL made ESB, he didn't know that he'd have Anakin/Vader build him in TPM.

It's actually quite evident that at least 3PO got his memory erased: "I frankly don't know what he's talking about. Our last master was Bail Antillies..."
I just don't see how they erased Ben's memory. 😂
