They are very strong, depending on mediums too.
Check alpha, the super hadoken, the shungokustatsu, they are all top notch attacks.
Those sf, because they aint pushovers, now the ones on the games have game mechanics that make them weak, but...

Ryu blows up a mountain at a second's thought? If not, he's engaged in melee combat or dead.
Guile blew up a tree. Woo. He got owned by one of Bison's goons.
Super Hadouken can be countered; and against two beings who can absorb ridiculous amounts of punishment and heal back, it won't kill either of them. Shungokusatsu targets key organs in the body with devastating blows; it won't kill either of them either.
If you want to argue game mechanics, Wolverine and Sabertooth's X-attacks do ridiculous amounts of damage and combined they make one hell of a team. Individually, Ryu does the most single hit damage aside from Ken, and Guile is very slow in comparison.
Actually, Ken is the fastest one on his team, but takes the most damage. Guile has horrible recovery time, as does Ryu, but both do considerable damage.

Wolverine and sabretooth's healing is highly overrated and inconsistant as is.
Ryu takes this alone, its been done.
You can knock them out the area, ko, kill, or incapacitate your opponent.
They aren't better fighters in this case, they are slower, don't his as hard, and they don't have anything over distance.
Why wager on them?
ryus punch can blow pretty bad , see at the www.streetfighteralpha.com the explosion that his punch shocking against akumas,and in that trailler they arent as tough as they really are.Wolverine maybe fast,but in this kind of fight i can surely say that the sf are way better than wolvi.Wolverine has super senses , his ears would be totally messed up ny just the sound of guiles sonic boom.All the three sf mentioned at this topic can dodge bullets easily as they are in slow down, wolverine can take the bullets and kill the guy who shot them,but he cant dodge them the way the sf do.Wolverine is a very exp and skilled fighter, but in a fight they arent as exp than the sf guys, the street fighters are used on fighting super guys like M.Bison and shin akuma.And as we can see in xmen vs street fighter m bison is as tough as magneto , and ryu and ken beat bison
