the "Learn Something" thread

This is a thread where you aucutally learn something....anything....so, let's get this train wreck a'rollin!

Um.....how about....

Back in medievil times, people bathed very little. About once every few months, the entire family would take a bath, using the same water each time.

It started with the oldest male (father)

Then the male children

then the mother.

Then all the female children.

And finnally babies.

The water was hot only for the fist couple of baths, creating the phrase "using up all the hot water"

This sounds somewhat like the 'Random Information That Only Matters to a certain amount of people' thread.

The only reason polar bears can't play baseball is because they are all left-handed. Studies show that if you simply changed them all to right-handers, they could instantly play an organized baseball game.
