I can some it up for you very easily, Thanos is a marvel character and there for his word is law, darksied is a dc character, so we must scrutinize it.

To refresh the climax of COIE -
The Anti-Monitor was badly damaged and dying, but still could summon enough power to kill E2 Superman and Superboy Prime. Darkseid blasted him from his own dimension, and that looked to be it. But, Anti-Monitor still wasn't quite dead, and came back as a living fireball for one last shot at the duo.
Darkseid the mega-powerful couldn't put down a dying foe, once and for all?

also, if you were using some wisdome, you would see that i'm just trying to illustrate the inconsistancies in all comic characters. I dont' have to bring up the inconsistancies in DC characters cuz you guys do enough of that for me. I'm just here to remind you that it happens over at marvel too.
