People like soccer for the reason you mention.
People like american football for the reason Forumcrew said
Completly different games, completly different point of views.
My fav is american football for all those reasons, but sometimes its not exciting at all (especially the superbowl because of the immense popularity), try watching a game without any tv breaks, and you get stoppages that last 20-30 seconds, basically the amount of times for a midfielder to pass the ball twice in soccer.)
Soccer can also be an boring sport to watch. Every two seconds a foul, a long ass kick, somebody heads it to thier teammate, that guys passes the ball, then that guy loses it, rinse and repeat. But the game can be very exciting to watch also.
Every sport has ups and downs. YOur ignorant to think that every sport sucks aside from the one you love. If you dont like it, its because its not your thing, not because it sucks.
And I agree with you Forumcrew about the hockey thing. A good broadcast (mostly CBC in Canada), can translate the game very well. But in terms of being at the game, its probably one of the best games to watch in person, especially when you get a rival game. ( Due to the smaller arena size compared to football or soccer
