AOL Time-Warner Censors Alex Jones Websites

This is part of a growing trend of authoritarian censorship of the Internet in preparation for the emergence of Internet 2, where only government approved websites will be allowed to exist and the old Internet will be shut down.

Monolithic corporations in lock-step with government are following the Chinese model, where any website mildly anti-establishment is immediately shut down and its owners arrested. The vast majority of Internet cafes in China were shut down in 2002 after the government started a fire in one Beijing cafe and then demanded all the rest be shut down for 'safety reasons'.

is it there to close down websites if not approved by the goverment?
is this denying freedom of speech?

Yes of course it is denying freedom of speech.

I wish you had of picked a different site though. Shutting up Alex Jones could be considered a government crack down on basic stupidity as much as a crack down against free speech.

And actually, Time Warner is not the gov't, so this would be more of a corporate crackdown on freedom of speech (or stupidity as it were).

Time Warner AOL has the legal obligation to shut down and censor any sites they don't like. It's their business. They can do what they want with it.

As Kharma said it has nothing to with government nor the Constitution.

And this should be in the "conspiracy" thread.

i can think of other more dangerous sites to shut down. why target alex jones. and i cant see how anything he says on that site can be dismissed so easily and labled stupid

There is no such thing as goverment anymore. There's simply powerful coporations who hide behind seats of scrutiny, pulling the strings of politicians, weapon developments, and military personal like puppets. Much less to do his plan of world war 666 to topple all enemy states..

So he instilled a capitalism, and though he has to go slowly so nobody suspects anything. He's going to go libertarian and allow them to oversea trade and things. That way, we not only have some stronghold on the enemy's economy, but while they worry about themselves and personal problems, SpellJammer can dedicate more like 60% of tax money to weapons development. Also the fact that they busy themselves with the economy will keep them unsuspecting of his intentions. You see before we were a socialist hive mind where everyone worked for the goverment. But people kept whining about how they had no cars, no nice things, and despite having the freedom to do whatever they want, never had the TIME too.. So instead, this new libertatian movement will let them have the time, and the money, to play God. And as their morale begins to fade, they become stupider to the evils that control them, and as thier selfishness grows, the evil "goverment" only furthers it's plans..

As SpellJammer's always said. There's only two types of people in this world. Evil people, and stupid people.. which one are you?
