Who's the greatest hero in the rich history of the Saga?
I know pride is not a Jedi trait, but rank 'em anyway! Here's a few:

Well lets keep in mind the only reason Yoda and Obi-Wan lived thru the Prequel trilogy is because of Bail Organa.. .so he is the greatest hero.. bc they both had to train the boy who would show his father the way to salvation

Can Anakin be the hero?
He falls into evil, but finally makes the right choice, fulfills the prophecy and conquers the darkness in himself.

Yes, I think Anakin can be a hero. He ceased being Darth Vader and became Anakin Skywalker when he helicopter-slammed the Emperor.

But after seeing ROTS I'm a HUGE Obi-Wan fan, now more than ever. If I had to rank 'em, I'd go:

1. Obi-Wan
2. Luke
3. Anakin
4. Qui-Gon
5. Yoda
6. Padme
7. Leia
8. Han
9. Mace
10. R2

There is a chain.

If there is no Qui Gon then there is no Anakin.
If there is no Anakin there is no Luke, Leia, or Darth Vader.
So that would mean no use for the Original Trilogy
AND
If there is no Obi-Wan There is no use for Yoda in the Original Trilogy.
also if there is no Obi Wan there is no Darth Vader Suit.
AND
If there is no R2 there is nothing beyond the departure from Naboo in TPM.

so now i think R2 should be in the top 5
because without R2 there is no AOTC, ROTS, ANH, ESB, ROTJ

This is true, R2 is made into WAY TOO BIG of a hero. But that can't be helped, Mace Windu, stays on the good side all the way through, stays true to his vision, wants the Republic to live, only loses when Anakin cheats like the totally nonsuperpowerful wannabe jedi he is supposed to be. So we saw both sides of Anakin. Great, but it made him look weaker than it did to increase our opinion of Darth Vader, the best idea for a villian ever. So Mace, greatest swordsman in the entire series.

R2D2, he saves pretty much everyones ass during the 6 movies.

Notice the number (or lack of) jedi on this. Why? Because they ****ed up BADLY. Their policies were responsable for the whole Galactic Empire mess, and if it weren't for their pig headedness, Anakin would probably not have turned. Also, they lied quite a bit to Luke, or at least, veiled the truth more then was nessecary.
