Avatar size

Okay, I know there's about 8 million and four threads about avatars, but I still couldn't find an answer to my question:

When we are able to get our 100 x 100 avatar, it still has to be 10,000 bytes?

I'm having a spot of trouble getting mine to fit this limit. 😬

100x100 - For moderators and for users who have registered for more than two years.

Please note: all avatars are still subject to the 10k size limit.

That wouldn't resize the .gif, he wants it animated. The resizer will resize a static image, not the whole animation.
