Yeah, but you got any idea around how much faster than light he was going?

We generally measure our world in terms of inches or centimeters, miles or kilometers. Some of us are better at judging distances and sizes than others, but usually we are not too far off.

A thousand miles or kilometers may be harder to grasp, but it can be done if we think in terms of "several days drive" or "several hours flying." But what about space? The universe is an incredibly vast place.

What does "distance to the moon" really mean. How far is the Sun?

What about the nearest stars and galaxies?

Astronomers soon came to realize that measuring the universe in terms of miles or kilometers was very impractical. They began using light years. You may remember that light is the fastest thing in the universe, traveling at an astounding 186,000 miles per second.

Our Sun is about 93 million miles away, and it takes light 8 minutes to reach us. 8 light minutes is easier to think of than 93 million miles. Distances to stars is measured in light years, distances to galaxies are measured in millions of light years! And what of size, how big is Jupiter? How big is a star?
Fortunately there is an easier, and far more amusing way to grasp the vastness of the universe.

Superman took darksied to the moon in mere seconds, you do the math from what I have given you, but he did break the barrier of light in that feat of speed.

Superman's powers are also based on his willpower of which he has a near infinite amount.

well given the time it takes light to travel to the sun is about 4 minutes, he took darksied there in mere seconds he moved him there much faster than light moves there

EIGHT minutes, not four. 😉

I use many people... 😖hifty:

n as far as travelling faster than light goes... well, superman can approach the speed of light, but not surpass it... the superman/batman comics (while being worthwhile reads), tend to have plenty of inconsistencies... superman was imo, simply overflowing with jobber aura during his fight with darkseid... even as angry as superman was, darkseid would get his ass handed to him constantly if he always fought like that...

He's gone way past the speed of light on other occasions as well. 😉

Post crisis?

and that superman/batman comic gives no indication of how fast he was going, it could have taken several minutes...

Yes, post crisis.

Well to be honest, i'd be very sceptical about such things, unless he actually says he's going faster than light under his own regular power...

Except for the fact they were talking the whole way. Unless Superman was taking minute long breaks between each sentence we have to assume it was in real time.

I somehow doubt Darkseid would sit there for minutes as Superman pushed him towards the sun.

Given that Superman performed a similer feat draging Wonder Woman to the sun fighting with her, punching her back to Earth and fighting with here there, all in 1 minute and 26 seconds. I'd say it's within he abilities.

Does anyone have scans of Supes wielding Captain America’s shield and Mjolnir during the JLA/Avengers crossover?

I agree. It's what's also called "dramatic license."

Another example. In Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, after Superman polished off Mongul and Batman Shiva, Superman is seen zipping along a stretch of water (probably about 100' long) so fast his air currents are causing a wake. Yet, how fast could it really have been (should it have been) if he could have a multiple talk-balloon conversation with Batman?

It's comics...

Mindship said pretty much what my post would have said with this message...

He was pushing him the whole way, yes, but there could have been text/speech that wasn't displayed, and even if he wasn't going at the speed of light, the speed at which he was travelling is still pretty fast...

adding the fact that in that particular issue, Darkseid wasn't exactly bringing his 'A' game...
