Not acting retarded, just going with the flow. Everyone else has decided that crossovers are bible, why not join in? In battles, Superman leads 2-1. The worst writing does indeed occur in crossovers. Storm vs Wonder Woman? Silver Surfer vs GL? Batman vs Hulk? C'mon.
In the very first crossover, Pre-Superman has quite a hard time with Savage Hulk, but wins by calming him down.
In 1999, after Hulk finishes beating on him, Superman submits. Hulk wins.
In another crossover, Superman defeats Professor Hulk pretty easily. Just one or two punches puts him down. I don't nessecarily agree with the outcome, but it is common knowledge that Professor Hulk is one of the weaker incarnations. He may be smarter, but Savage Hulk would give Superman a far better fight.
Professor Hulk's strength and durability, cannot compare to Superman's. He has been knocked unconscious by Juggernaut, Thor, and even Doctor Octopus. Superman should have absolutley no problem laying him out. He is not as durable as Savage Hulk, he does not regenerate quickly at all, and he cannot increase his strength.
Savage Hulk is another matter completely. He has defeated the Asgardian Destroyer, a mystical suit of armor with infinite strength and the durability of adamantium. He has regenerated from being reduced to a skeleton. He can jump at speeds exceeding Mach 10 (escape velocity,) and his attack speed is blinding. His speed is nothing compared to Superman, but his durability and deadly accuracy compensates.
Superman has a distinct advantage, but when pitted against the Savage Hulk, this is hardly a definite win for him. He'd be in the fight of his life.
I know where the picture came from. No, that isn't the actual Doomsday, it's a synthetic model, similar to a "Danger Room" device. It still had quite an effect. 🙂

When Prof Hulk got mad he was just unstoppable as Savage Hulk, he just usually got his ass kicked a couple times before he got there. Its just Peter Davids style, it made for really interesting stories.
Well while there is no clear cut winner. If they had a points system like in a boxing match Superman would get the decision imo. Hulk first threw Superman into space, then Superman came storming back only to smash Hulk into a mountain. Then Superman picked Hulk up by the leg and and spun him like Thor does his hammer and threw him into another set of mountains bouncing threw them like he was in a pinball machine. Then Hulk spit cactus needles at Superman(wow impressive) And the basically the last punch was a left hook by Superman sending him into another damm mountain.
