Need help remembering a movie

I saw a movie in my early teens (late 70's early 80's) that was about a serial killer - he would go into houses and wear nothing but a pair of rubber gloves...it was erotic but was a mainstream movie as I remember.....gave me the creeps and I would like to watch it again and remember the story.....................that's all the clues I have. Thanks
