Willllllllllma!!!

This year is nuts and historic. We have had the strongest (Wilma) the 4th strongest (Rita) and the 6th strongest Hurricane ever (Katina) Katrina was the most devastating, expensive hurricane ever and was the worst (in terms of deaths) since 1928. *
* The 1928 Lake Okeechobee Hurricane killed 2500 people.

Next year may be worse. I hope not because this was the worst year ever for Hurricanes and well i don't think people can stand it anymore.
I think Wilma will be a significant storm wherever it hits. Most likely a cat3/4.

Hurricane Wilma is the most intense hurricane in history, and even though it is likely to lose strength before making landfall on Florida's southwest coast this weekend, it will still pack the potential to be a devastating storm.

Early this morning Wilma exploded into a Category 5 hurricane, and its pressure dropped to 882 mb, eclipsing the record of 888 mb set by Gilbert in 1988. Wilma's winds are near 165 mph, with hurricane force winds extending outward up to 50 miles from its very tight eye.

Wilma has set or tied a number of records. In addition to being the fiercest storm in history, its rapid intensification is also the fastest in the history of hurricane record keeping. Wilma is the 21st named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, tying the record set in 1933. It is also the 12th hurricane of the year, tying the record for most hurricanes in a season set in 1969.

1 Unnamed - Galveston, TX 1900 4 8000+ deaths
2. Lake Okeechobee, Fla. 1928 4 1,836 deaths

Thats weird its a cat 4 with 155 mph winds but it has millibar pressure of 894 mbar!! That does not make any sense. That pressure by it self would mean a intense cat 5 hurricane. That would be the 3 rd most intense hurricane by it self.

That is supposed to be a stereotype

I know I should change it

but, not your need to feed these stereotypes...

Gay men exist as human beings...not as the co*k-seeking whores your avatar represents...

Constructive criticism...that, perhaps,...should have taken place via PM...

My apologies.

uh, the speeds are down because the eyewall is replacing itself. But if that doesn't happen by tomorrow the pressure is gonna rise significantly.

Its a funy thing the way they run the categories, its only by wind speed, not the central pressure, when Katrina hit land she was a CAT 4, but her pressure was lower than some other CAT5, so thats one of the reasons they reclassified it.

It's my understanding that the intensity of this particular storm will dredge up the colder water from teh bottom of the ocean....there by reducing it's strength. Or, so Anderson Cooper's lackeys say....

With any luck, it will only be a CAT 2 by the time it makes landfall... (on US soil)

In any case, no hurricane is a good hurricane.

Everyone in the "projected path" had better hurry up and buy batteries and Milk.....because if you don't have them....you'll all die...horrible deaths!

well they say if it hits no land by Florida it would take a lot to bring it down to a cat 2 or 1.

Its replacing its eye and that means it going to strengthen again. Thats bad news.

The Key West Labor Day Hurricane of 1935, if I'm not mistaken, had the previous low pressure of the modern era.

Not not good... 🙁 ....man just one after another going through...

Sometimes even the cat 2 hurricanes cause more destruction then the larger ones but in any case I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best for the floridians and anyone else's path this crosses!

Good thing every gay man doesn't act like you, or the stereotype would be "they like assholes so much they make themselves one.."

If I liked assholes so much, I wouldn't hate you.

I'm glad we agree that I'm not the stereotypical gay man.

Please, no member bashing. The topic of this thread doesn't need both of you guys personal fights. Take it to the pms. Keep it on topic or take a hike.

well said!!!!!!!!

Latest info:

It now has now gotten a new eye and it looks like its getting stronger. It was 145 mph during the day and it appears it will return to a intense cat 5. Really imo when a hurricane is 155 mph its a cat 5 hurricane. The hurricane center predicts for it go back to 165 mph in 24 hours. Thats rare for a hurricane to become so intense and die down a little and go back up again to almost its former self which has wind filed almost six times larger now.

The bad news is the stronger its gets the stronger it will be when it hits Florida. If it becomes anywhere as strong as before Florida will be hit harder. WHY?? Because it would take much more to weaken the hurricane. Hurricanes are complicated. Its just not how strong is it or where it is going.

The labour day hurricane is the most intense hurricane ever to make landfall anywhere in the world. It is third strongest including all other hurricanes. However there have been much stronger storms in the Pacific (hard to think). There was a typhoon tip in 1979 that had a pressure of 870 mbar and wind speeds of 190mph and it was gigantic in size over 1350 miles (2170 km wide)!! However it weakened to almost nothing when it hit Japan.

The largest and smallest tropical systems ever. Amazing.
