Damn... The manga strikes me as being totally different from what I remember of the animated series. Looks like he just charged up and planted his fingers in the planet... pfft.

Well you can go by the anime too, as long as it's the Japanese version, which is just as cannon as the original manga. 🙂

And I think Tenshinhan and Krillin surpassed Frieza or they wouldn't hace any chances against either the Cyborgs or Cell...ok they didn't really but at least a little.

Freeza wasn't suprised, he was hoping that it whouldn't travel all the towards the core, because he wanted a chance to prove himslef against Goku. He did that so just in case he was to lose the fight, he could easily get off the planet, while Goku is left with no way out (he either die from the explosion or be killed by freeza).

I think they did Surpass Freeza, because Ten was able to hold second form Cell off for a while. 🙂

Kinda crazy that humans could surpass Freeza, someone who pwns Saiyans for a living.

Yeah. But all the humans in DBZ were lames IMO. Ten was okay, and is the only one I really cared for. 😐

In what form could the saiyans be affected by a planetary explosion?
i.e (injury, death)

Couldn't the humans destroy a planet if they surpassed frieza in power?

I don't think so....the DBZ series was just supervised by Akira Toriyama....the DB Anime aybe...but Z and GT not....

That has something to do with his origins. One of those eyes of enlightenment deal.
