In my experience, people who make a big deal out of how 'popular' and good looking they are do so only to cover up massive insecurities they have, and to seek attention.
Well, dear, let me wake you up to reality. Being popular and good-looking does NOT in any way make you better than anyone else, especially if you look down on people who are not and who you consider to be 'unfortunate'. And in the real world, once you get away from petty high school bullshit, popularity doesn't mean a damn thing.

I'm the same way, I'm really shy and quiet and tend to keep to myself. But because I don't pretend to be anything other than who I am, I do have several good friends, people who I couldn't do without.
