7.5 Roger Moore's second best Bond film.
I pretty much agree with you.I like The Spy Who Loved Me the best, then Live and Let Die,then For Your Eyes Only.Of the latest ones mentioned?
Mask Of Zorro-you got to rate THAT one much higher than 5.5.The original Catherine Zeta Jones -Mask Of Zorro was awesome, got to give it a 9 at LEAST!! its sequal, now THAT one I can see giving a 5.5,that one wasnt very good.
that all being said,
Mask Of Zorro?
9
For Your Your Eyes Only?
10
Taps?
7
would give it a higher rating if not for Tom Cruise.Back then he was a pretty bad actor in those days.
Octopussy.

cool to see that our tastes in the top 3 Roger Moore Bond films are so similiar. 🙂 Roger Moore is a great actor and highly underrated as James Bond.I was glad to see that one person give Octopussy a high rating-"even though it was corny at times" it was still a good Bond film. The only Connery/Moore Bond film that wasnt a great flick was A View To A Kill even far more cornier than Octopussy.Im glad that Moore stepped down after that cause Octopussy for me,was the last really great Bond film.
When they selected Moore to replace Connery as Bond, they wanted to make sure they had a great actor to replace him. They didnt just pull a rabbit out of the hat and say-well we drew Moores name, lets use him. They carefully screened a bunch of actors before making the decision to select Moore. The reason I was glad that one person gave Octopussy a high ranking was something that I noticed while rewatching the Connery/Moore Bond films is that Octopussy is the ONLY one of them where Bond shows some serious and emotional anger. He did in some of the other Connery/Moore Bond films but only when he was slapping around a woman cause she wasnt telling the truth to a question he was asking them.
In Octopussy, its the ONLY one of them where you get to see Bond express some real dramatic drama in the situation he is in.Like when he is on that train talking to that high ranking KGB officer saying to him-And I suppose you dont give a damn that thousands of innocent lives will be killed in the process of your grand sheme? and then later, when he makes it to the circus to defuse the bomb,he cries out to those officers restraining him-Damn it let me go,theres a bomb in there.Moore got to demonstrate his drama skills he has and he showed what a great job he does of delivering his lines. He gave me goosebumps.a bad actor wouldnt be able to do that.I have seen movies like that where some actor had those kinds of lines and I was unmoved by them cause of how unconvincingly the lines were delivered by that actor.
I always thought that Moore didnt do anything else other than Bond besides the tv show-The Saint he was in before being cast as Bond and thats because unlike Connery, after he was done with James Bond,he hardly did anything else after Bond in any movies where Connery did a bunch of stuff.Moore was content to retire where Connery wasnt quite done yet. That was the reason I always thought that other than The Saint, that Moore never did anything else besides that because AFTER Bond,he pretty much didnt do anything. However BEFORE James Bond,I discovered while doing a google search on him, that he did a bunch of stuff in tv and films BEFORE becoming James Bond so he actually DID do lots of other filmwork.its just most of it was done BEFORE becoming Bond is why people dont think he did anything other than Bond besides The Saint tv show.
Its not surprising to learn that he did so much tv and film work before Bond because like i said, when they replaced him with Connery, they didnt just pull a rabbit out of the hat and say -okay Its moore who has the job. They carefully went through a bunch of actors before selecting him by looking at all the other filmwork he had done previously before making the decison on Moore. They wanted to make sure that they had a great actor to continue on making more Bond films to replace the legenday Sean Connery who everybody loved so much. 😉 the people that criticise Moore as Bond, they'll deny it of course, but its only because they hated to see Connery go and expected Moore to be exactly like him which is impossible for any actor to do.but again, they'll never admit that though. If Moore had been the FIRST Bond,no way in hell would he ever have gotten criticised as Bond.Thats a no brainer.
about Zorro, that person that ranked the original Zorro as 5.5 has horrendous tastes in movies cause the original is awesome unlike the sequal where again,THAT one I can see giving a 5.5
