500 Albums To Adore...

Walrus, hippo, cat-dog, rice, turtle, done.

This is almost like a 'What's your favorite album' thread, but - in the twinkle of my mind's eye - I see it as a more expansive collection of great albums. It's also rather collaborative, don't ya thunk?

The play of the field is that we - the people - add our own preferences to the list, so the end result is a collection of 500-odd albums for people to adore.

No.) 'Album Name' - Artist (Favorite song from the album)

...Brief description on why it's the cheese's pickle.

In the bikini, there was pertness and it was good...

(These are in - posted - chronological order, by the by...)

1) 'Learn Yourself' - The Beautiful Girls (Music)

...Super chilled, smooth acoustic flows.

2) 'Amos Lee' - Amos Lee (Keep it Loose, Keep It Tight)

...Do you have a soul? If you like this, then you do.

3) 'The Bends' - Radiohead (High And Dry)

...Ahhhh, how could were they when they wrote tunes?

4) 'Fast Cars, Danger, Fire & Knives' - Aesop Rock (Food, Clothes, Medicine)

...Sick beats and skunky lyrics.

Begin...

5) 'Mr Bungle' - Mr Bungle (Pink Cigarette)

...Possibly the greatest album ever; certainly the most imaginative.

6) 'Labor Days' - Aesop Rock (Save Yourself) (could definitely be argued)

...Aesop's best album hands down, float comin up after that. awesome production by el-p, worth checkin out if you haven't.

7) Lateralus by Tool (The Patient).

A mainstay choice as one of my favourite albums of all time, one of the best ever.

Labor Days was produced by Blockhead and Aes.

8) Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein (Iron Galaxy)

Obvious choice. Probably the best hip-hop album in existence. Vast Aire's poetry provokes every emotion under the sun, and El-P creates what can only be described as a beautifully horrible soundscape. Takes your head to another dimension. I got it almost 2 years ago, and it still gets regular play.

That's an amazing album ^^^.

9. Thriller - Michael "GOAT" Jackson (the girl is mine) - im disgusted none of yall mentioned this before me

10. Illmatic - Nas (the world is yours) - since deathblow already used "best hiphop album" i guess ill (have to) say this brought the EC back on the map. and yeah, it's a masterpiece. EC's pride and glory.

11. OBCL4L - Raekwon the Chef (verbal intercourse) - need i comment?

uno

12) Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake (One Gun)

Modern Metal Masterpiece.

13) Heaven Shall Burn - Antigone (Not My God)

Quite unheard of band in america, but the devastating riffs combined with the incredible vocals from Marcus Bischoff, make this one of the best Melodic Death metal albums of all time.

P.S nice thread! but i doubt it will get to 500

14) 36 Chambers of Wu-Tang - Wu-Tang Clan(C.R.E.A.M.)

It's a classic

15) A Tribe Called Quest- The Low End Theory (check the rhyme)

does it really need an explanation?

16) Binary Star- Masters of the Universe

Godlike album in my opinion.

Use your illusions I&II-guns n' roses
very varied mix of songs. showed what the band can do

16)Ten-Pearl Jam.

First class album from the best Grunge band ever 🪩

17: august and everything after counting crows

their debut and there darkest album, haunting songs such as ghost train and sullivan street combined with more highlighted murder of one and rain king

will always be in my favourite albums list...i love it

18) Common Sense - Resurrection (I Used To Love H.E.R.)

Wasn't just Common at his best. It was Hip-Hop at its best.

19) cunninlynguists - will rap for food

i can listen to this album for days straight.

20) '40oz To Freedom' - Sublime (Bad Fish)

...a great mix of many different genres - dub, ska, reggae, rock, punk and chilled -out acoustic.

Apologies, favourite track is Carousel.

Pink Cigarette is from California by Mr Bungle, which is the album I put at first.
