Hannibal Lecter Prequel

Not the "Red Dragon". The movie is going to be about a younger Hannibal Lector. Anthony Hopkins will probably not reprise his famous role. I also heard that Tim Roth may take over the role.

Thomas Harris is currently writing "Behind the Mask". It will be the fourth book of his famous Hannibal Lecter series. According to the Associated Press, Dino De Laurentiis (produced "Hannibal" and "Red Dragon"😉 is already planning to bring the story to the cinema in 2006.

The novel will tell how Lecter was born in the late 1930s into a wealthy Lithuanian land-owning family. His parents were killed by the Nazis when he was six and he and Mischa, his elder sister, had to fend for themselves in the winter of 1944. They lived in a barn until starving soldiers found them. The men decided to eat one of the children and chose Mischa because she was fatter, killing her with an axe. It was the defining moment in Lecter’s life. It will tell how Lecter fled to America after the war and became a psychiatrist. But gnawing away in his mind was the image of Mischa being eaten.

Tim roth? Mr. orange?

I see how he can somewhat resemble a younger lector.

good thread. 👆

The movie is going to be callled 'The Lecter Variation'

Tim Roth will be so evil as Lector. I would certainly go and see that.

The book's being written which means that a movie isn't even being planned out yet.

They should have Anthony Hopkins narrating the movie.

Not sure how the movie will turn out, but I love the idea of having Hopkins narate it. It would definitely give it that freaky Silence of the Lambs edge. I just worry about them screwing with Hanibal since he's one of my favorite characters.

^ agreed

Anyway 1st pics from the movie....

Tim Roth should play Lector in the prequel. He was the producer's first choice for Hannibal (2001) but Hopkins decided he wanted to reprise his role.

Don't really think much of these photos of the film. I don't know what to make of this so far, haven't really heard much about it. I do know that I am looking forward to see the film. I am a huge fan of the Hannibal films.

I shall be keeping a close eye on this production.

Can't wait for the trailer.

How many movies can stem from Silence of the Lambs? I'll see it, I'll prolly enjoy it too!!!! Fifty? Fifty five? 😎

Wow it seems awsome... can't wait to see it!
And Gaspard Ulliel seems like an OK choice for Hannibal much better than Tim Roth anyway

Didn't like Hannibal. My guess is, that I won't like this.

I wished they would've just left it with Manhunter.

you are both on crack, tim roth could carry a movie better with his eyes closed. manhunter was good, but it wasnt better than red dragon, better actors, better presentation, better everything IMO.

William Petersen pulled a much better performance than Edward Norton. Hell, Tom Noonan is almost a nobody and did a better job than Ralph Fiennes.

And if you're trying to say Brett Ratner is a better director than Michael Mann, you're on crack.

Oh and maybe the reason Gaspard Ulliel is playing a young Lecter is because he's playing a twenty-one year old.

Hey, guess what! Last time I looked Tim Roth is fourty-four!
