Me and some of the folks from the Unhosted froum would like to try and bring "Real Life Mutants" to the hosted forum. The idea would be for it to be like a comic book or TV series, with people taking it in turns to host. I'd cover the first couple of story arcs, and people could PM me with sub-plots they would like to have occur around their character. The story would wipe clean the back-story, so new people can play, while also leaving it open for existing characters to continue on. Several of the mutants will have been transported to a new world, having their powers weakened to the state they were when they were first discovered, therefore making a level playing field. They'll land in an area with several other mutants (new characters etc) and from there the story will start.
The world will be one ravaged with destruction, all due to a god-type mutant several decades ago. The world now fears mutants, and has eliminated all that they have found. America in particular is in a bad state. Nucular disasters, disease, and war has destroyed much of the land, mutants are hunted, and those who survive, hide fearing for their safety. The world could be described as a post-appocolyptic world. And that's the world which the mutants must save.
So far there's about 4 of us from the unhosted forum, but I'd like some "new blood" and new interest to start the story up here.
Anyone else interested?
Sounds cool. I'll probably join, if I have time.
lemme take a shtab at this...
Bakumatsu! - A Meiji Era Samurai RPG
Setting:
It is 1863, in the heart of the tumultuous time that would later be known as the Bakumatsu rebellion. Under a cover of law and order lies buzzing tension, frequent assassinations and secret wars between the soldiers of the ruling Shogunate and the imperial-allied swordsmen known as the Ishin Shishi. In several key cities such as Edo (Japan's Capital) and Kyoto, barely-concealed acts of violence upon both Shogunate partisans and Ishin partisans alike as each side reacts to the other's offensive operations with attacks of their own. It is quite widely assumed that full-scale war is soon to erupt across the entire nation, and some are even working towards sparking it.
Currently, the Ishin Shishi are finding it very difficult to keep a safe foothold in several cities, but they are only waiting for Imperial support to bring their operations out of the shadows and fight toe-to-toe with the Shogun's troops. In the meantime, a number of skilled swordsmen reside in their ranks that can at least hold their own... but will they be a match for the recently-formed Shinsengumi task force appointed by the Shogun himself...?
Feel of the Game:
An anime or at least a semi-anime feel accompanies Bakumatsu!, as it is set in a period very much dealt with in several anime. Anyone who has watched Kenshin or Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto will know the period, and know of the various factions. It is not required to have watched these anime at all, but it is recommended to give an idea.
A few pointers to how the game will generally run:
-I will act as Gamemaster, and as such control the outside world around you. NPC responses, events out of the PCs control and the like will be dealt with by me. Of course you can make up some minor stuff on the fly, like some of your surroundings (a tree being in a garden, etc), saying something like 'AND THEN 34 SHINSENGUMI SWORDSMEN BURST INTO THE ROOM' when you're losing a swordfight to help you is not on.
-Combat is freeform, but no force-hitting and godmoding.
-Historic events will occur in the RPG, most specifically major battles from the Bakumatsu timeline.
-Although a show like Kenshin has some weird and wonderful special moves, the closest anyone will get to in the RPG will be rare stances and combat techniques that do not have any mystical powers associated. Things like unusual speed and the like are fine, but things like Kenshin's Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu and Saito's more... fantastic Gatotsu moves are going a bit too far.
-Characters will, at times, be in the rank/position to give orders to NPCs and sometimes even PCs. Tactical combat happens in some of the more major battles.
-Characters have the possibility of dying. This will not happen randomly or without reason, but if you fling your character at twenty skilled enemy swordsmen (and you haven't achieved, like, Hitokiri status by this time), your survival chances are very slim. Also please remember the rather strict and harsh society of Pre-Imperalist Japan; certain dishonourable acts could order for your execution or an order to commit seppuku. Naturally, your character can die by your request in whatever way your want if already arranged with me.
-Grammar and proper paragraphs of RPing are required. Not that you must write a 2000 page essay on your character drawing his sword, but neither can you just write three words per post.
-Characters can be male or female, and are allowed to be allied with the Imperialists, the Shogunate or even just civilians. However, a civilian master swordsman would be pretty unlikely unless s/he'd already fought for either side long ago. Characters can also belong to certain special units (e.g. Clan Aizu, Shinsengumi, Roshigumi) if they'd like to.
-No limit to player numbers. New players can join at any time, after submitting a character sheet.
SO, ANY TAKERS? =D
Ok, my idea is based on the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. If you are not familiar with the book series, or haven't read them in some time, its not a big deal, there will be a brief intro/crash course in the first post of the thread (if approved). It will be run by both myself and Decomposition.
The time line will be mid-series, after Rand Al Thor has named himself Dragon Reborn, and the just after the split in the Tower has accured. I have a broad story line written down, but what happens inside the story line will be mostly up to the players.
--All characters are human, but other then that, it can be up to the player what his/her skills, background, class, etc. are. Classes will be much like D&D classes, with the addition of Aes Sadia, Asha'man and Warder. Along with these classes come some rules. The first is the most obvious; if your character can channel, don't over do it. When i say over do it, i mean; using the One Power to level a city, or set an entire forest on fire, or kill an entire group of bad guys with a single glance. Use common sence. There will be a deeper explaination of Aes Sadia and Asha'man if the thread gets approved.
As for warders; no one can be like Lan. If you don't know who Lan is, then let me put it this way; you can't take an entire army of Dark Friends by yourself, and expect to come out whole and not tired. Again, use common sence; and again, there will be a better description of the warder, and the other classes if approved.
--The story line will flow with what happens in character, so the players have most the control on the game. The party can split up if thats what ends up happening, the one thing i do ask though, is don't split up and then decide, "hey, lets run into the Dark Ones camp to cause some trouble." the story line will be made clear from the first post, so try to at least advance it.
--Every character is subject to death, so play smart. Don't be reckless. Obviously Decom. and myself wont look for ways to kill people, but if you throw yourself under a horse, don't expect to jump up dancing.
--NO god-moding. Leave the control of other PC's to their player, unless given permission. Decom and myself will more then likely take a little bit of control of everyone at some point or another, but nothing that will alter their life or immediate situation at all (usually it will be for conversations only). And absolutly no killing characters from the books. The only reason i say this is because i am a huge fan of the books, and don't want to see them alter completly 🙂
--If you have a story idea, run it by Decom or myself, and we will either let you go ahead with it, or alter it to fit. We're pretty chill guys, so we won't cut you down unless you try something super dumb, like morphing yourself with a dragon or some such nonsence.
Any one interested?? I'm sorry theres not more detail about the general WOT history and stuff; i will definatly post one, with the description of all the classes if this game gets approved.

come on people this is an fun RP , It was my first Rp and I've been with it for about three years
Devil May Cry : Farewell to Kings
This is ganna be somewhat based of Devil May Cry 4. For those who dont know the game here is a little somthing to get an idea.
The story of "Devil May Cry" follows the hero Dante, a half-human, half-demon who must save the world. He is the son of the legendary Sparda, who fought against the evil forces, years earlier. Dante's task is not an easy one, as he must fight his way through an unstoppable army of darkness in his quest to face the ultimate evil: Mundus. The emperor of darkness himself has come back to raise "hell", trying one more time to take control of the world. Dante, a private investigator of the supernatural, is seeking revenge for the death of his mother and brother. However, Dante comes face to face with his destiny, discovering the evil conspiracy goes back thousands of years and that the evil Mundus has arisen a new. With his twin set of guns, and his father's sword, he'll find out how far he can go.
NOW in the RP you can make your own character or you can be the ones already there. If you dont know who the characters are then look in Google search. After the sold called "savior" was killed and the town was repaired somthing is not finished. Miles away a ruler by the name of Aruis (undead) has gone back to his old way to destroy The Devil May Cry team. Not only that he wants world domination. By expirimenting with creatures his army is set to attack at any moment. The story will take place 1 day before any attack begins. Remember you dont know who you can trust ANYONE can be a traitor at anytime. In this RP being realistic there is no such thing =P
Anyone interested ? if so plz say who you want to be or if your custom
