Vicis Ruina
The city of Ikanine had rested at the center of the known world, and many saw it as just that, the center of the world. The center of the world's commerce, trade, knowledge, and power. When Ikanine's people spoke, the world listened. When Ikanine suffered, so did every community connected to her. Ikanine was nothing less than the core of human life. The destruction of Ikanine was the single most crippling blow the world had ever known.
Ikanine's population numbered in the millions, and not one of them could have foreseen what was coming. On the seventh day of winter, at sunset, a low rumbling began in the city's center, and began to spread. Within moments, the city was shaking, and cracking. Wide chasms openned beneath the feet of Ikanine's people, her buildings crumbled, and her people panicked. After a few moments, the ground went quiet, the shaking stopped, and the destruction seemed to have ended.
Ikanine's people breathed a collective sigh of relief. It was a short lived moment, however. No sooner had the city set aside it's fear, than spikes of stone erupted from the earth all across the city. They shot from the ground, one after another in rapid succession. Each spike miles high, and hundreds of feet across at it's base, threw the shattered remains of the city's stone buildings high into the air. Within seconds the entire city had been levelled, and all that remained was a forest of monoliths, impaling the corpse of a once proud city.
Ikanine was dead, and only a handful of people had survived her ruin. These few would seek out one another, and with no idea of the danger they were in, begin to look for answers.
Vicis Ruina is a roleplay set in a medieval fantasy setting. The heroes may be characters of any sort, though a few restrictions apply.
-Characters are not much more powerful than other people to begin with. (But grow more powerful over time.)
-Magic is available, but limmited. The destruction of Ikanine means that only the old ways, almost lost to time, exist to further augment your power.
-If you do something dumb, you may just die. However, a means of ressurection known as Trees of Life, exists. (Though are not immediately accessible, so be careful until you have access to one.)
-Available races:
Humans are present, but are not the most prominent race. They exist mostly on the fringes, though soome are spread all over the world.
The long lived Faelin, most common and dominant race in the world. They are essentially long-lived humans with pointed ears. But they aren't Elves!
The Kiri, immortal beings trapped in the bodies of children. Although very rare, it is possible some were drawn to the destruction of Ikanine out of curiosity. (Thus a character being a Kiri is possible. Also, yeah, I stole these from Zelda.)
The Nima, a people with animal like features, such as ears, tails, or fur. Maybe claws. It varies from Nima to Nima. They are almost as common as humans.
The characters will begin in the ruins of Ikanine, you have total freedom to make up an origin as it's a large world.
Who's interested? I promise there's a plot, and a very good one, which myself, and someone else who I'm keeping secret and actually deserves more credit than me, have come up with.
