Some SONY news folks... Ken Kutaragi will step down as the Sony chairman and CEO he says he will retire and pursue other things.

They dont exactly need a "disney" to keep adding onto the theme park
all he did was bring playstation into the game wars... I dont consider him a necessary figure in continuing the 'playstation' brand franchise
but if they continue down this road of 'lets milk everyone for 600 dollars'.. they probably wont be too popular when they attempt to announce a 4th PS console
Could this be possibly from all the bad press?
Or could it just be that he is retiring?
Too me, it kinda of sounds like what Nintendo did to the creator of the Game Boy when his last project was ultimate failure (Virtual Boy).....they just stuck him in the corner and said dont touch anything, you'be been banned.

In Sony's case though, it'd be all too appropriate.
anata wa wakarimasu ka.....
This is simple.. Ken creates a console that costs the company close to a billion dollars and so far they havent had the return so what do you do when someone does a billion dollar mistake... you fire him simple. Its not the end of the world for SONY or Ken, PS4 will still come you just have to say thank you for what he did. He created PS1 and PS2 and intoduced us to the disc format for games so you have to thank him for the things hes given us otherwise we would be stuck with one option for gaming. I consider him a pioneer.

Yeah, he was still with the company, but he relegated to the back burner and wasnt allowed to do anymore R&D for any new hardware.
I guess its the culture in Japan. That's what the guy said when telling the story.

I completely agree. It sounds just like what happened to Gunpei Yokoi after the Virtual Boy flopped.
I agree with the logic, sure. The difference I was saying is that one could have sympathy for Gunpei who was lent on to release an experiment that he himself wasn't happy with, and then seemed to pay the price for it.
Unlike Mr. Sony here who I rather suspect we need not have any sympathy for at all.
