I tend to avoid comparing books to movies, they're different storytelling mediums and as such it takes different devices and aspects for each to be effective.
I have one scene, I have no idea what movie it is from though, I haven't seen the whole movie but it was sort of like this...
2 women where standing in the sea pushing eachother around, having fun. Suddenly the one tells the other to do it now and the other keeps that womans head under water. I guess she was sick or something.. well it had a sad sad cranberries song under it (no need to argue) and it made me upset a lot haha!!
1. Schindler's List, "He who saves one life saves the world entire" scene, even though it was a tad overdone - I still cried =/
2. Dancer in the Dark, when Selma's money is stolen and when she is hanged
3. Glory -- the end =(
4. Lawrence of Arabia, for some reason, depressed me after I watched it.
5. Sekai no chuushin, de ai wo sakebu - man, just the majority of the movie
6. After Life (wandafuru raifu) - okay, more touching than sad, but eh.
Hmm, I thought the end of RotK was only sad because it was the end of the trilogy, but was overall, rather uplifting and positive.
