I had something that picked up the signal for my PC (don't need it for the laptop though) but it didn't work in the 360. The signal was too weak 🙁

the LAN cable is that cool cable that connects the dsl router with your PC...
if it's downstairs, get a 30 ft long LAN cable to make the connection with the XBOX and the router...
