I agree, and it's a better way to end it opposed to the original one's "he escapes, tells police, plan is foiled". If they used, it wouldn't be as memorable.

that what makes a good horror movie, back in the late 70's, early 80's it was fashionable to make horror/suspense movies with bad endings...
