Brynteg Comprehensive School

A poor choice for children who aren't sporty

School review

As a former pupil of this school I feel obliged to put across my experience.
As Steven has said ?a long tradition of strict discipline uses fear to get students to adhere to deadlines and protocol? however there is also a group of pupils who are exempt from this. They are usually the most poorly behaved and disruptive pupils. They are given chance after chance and get away with seemingly no consequences, in many cases rewarded with ?team building? trips.

I feel I must disagree with Steven?s view ?At times the attention to the rugby team and the students contained within can appear biased, but never to the extent of genuine aggregate concern for the other pupils?

As a non rugby pupil it was clear to me and others where the priorities lay. Rugby pupils were given more lenient treatment by all members of staff. An example of this being aloud regardless of poor grades to go into Sixth form.

If your child is sporting then Brynteg is probably a good choice. However for other children Bryntiron is probally the best choice.

Brynteg Comprehensive School

A good choice by Bridgend's standards

School review

Brynteg is a school with a long history (although much of it under a different name) and a dedication to its sport. Standing out as one of the few great comprehensives in the local area, a long tradition of strict discipline uses fear to get students to adhere to deadlines and protocol. Some may see this as restrictive, however those more pessimistic may realise it as the reality of controlling large number of hormonal, imbalanced pupils. At times the attention to the rugby team and the students contained within can appear biased, but never to the extent of genuine aggregate concern for the other pupils. In other words, you're in Bridgend, a fairly hellish town at the best of times and this school knows realistically how to deal with the populous.
