This position is responsible for the administration of test materials (both radioactive and non-radioactive) via various routes (oral, dermal, Intravenous, subcutaneous, Intraperitoneal, Intramuscular); measuring body weights; collecting blood samples; performing detailed observations; and measuring food consumption with a variety of animal species varying from mice to non-human primates. It will interact and communicate with internal and external customers to ensure efficient workflow through the laboratory.
Essential functions include proper handling of radioactive materials; the daily husbandry of several different species of laboratory animals; performing daily tasks that are governed by standard operating procedures and protocols; collecting blood and metabolites from a variety of laboratory animals at protocol specified times; learning to operate various software programs (QuantaSmart®, Debra®, and Provantis®); and learning study book set-up and data archive of study books and other departmental records.
