Anywhere I Lay My Head is the debut studio album by actress Scarlett Johansson, released through Atco/Rhino Records on May 20, 2008. Dave Sitek (of TV on the Radio) produced the album, and David Bowie contributed to two tracks, "Falling Down" and "Fannin Street." Anywhere I Lay My Head features four songs written by Tom Waits, six songs written by Waits and Kathleen Brennan, and one original composition, "Song for Jo". "Falling Down" is her first single off the album.[1]
The album received very mixed reviews, as epitomized by an 8/10 in NME and a 1/5 in The Times.[2] Paste featured Johansson on its June 2008 cover.[3] The same issue featured two reviews of the album by two different authors. One called the tracks "new standards" while the other declared the album to be "sub-standard."[4] Johansson was also featured on the cover of the May 21 issue of NME.
