Early life

Brian Carroll began playing guitar at the age of twelve. He has been quoted as saying, however, that he did not begin playing seriously until the following summer when he moved from Huntington Beach to Claremont. He attended and graduated from Damien High School in La Verne.[citation needed] His playing began improving with lessons from various teachers, most notably Paul Gilbert, with whom he studied for over a year. He began making demo recordings of both his playing as well as his writing styles.
