Agreed. I think Bale can be a pretty versatile actor, but isn't given challenging roles enough, instead they just put him as a soldier, or Bruce Wayne.
His performances are good but, his style of acting shows in every movies he's played, which is a given unless you're that good, which he's not.
Even his voice acting in Howl's Moving Castle was a bit dull. I think his versatility shows when he plays insane characters (although acting insane forces you to act outside of the norm). Like he did in American Psycho. However, with The Machinist, while good, it wasn't exactly a stretch. The plot itself was intriguing and Bale delivered but, he didn't go out of his range as an actor.
He's one of today's hottest stars and I just think he's credited (by some) as an actor too highly.
I mean his performance with Batman was too much. He had the right idea but, he failed to hit the nail on the head, imo.
Off topic but, if Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeve's had a butt baby it would be Bale. Just sayin. 😄

I think Bale has the ability to be a better and more versatile actor, even if he is grossly overrated, which of course he is.
Keanu Reeves though, he isn't a particularly versatile actor at all, but that doesn't mean he isn't good. He does play a good slacker/stoner kind of character, like in Bill and Ted or that one where he killed his girlfriend or something.
Hmm, I need some help conducting a survey. Maybe you guys can help me out, it's for my music class, just fill out these questions, and if you don't want to get personal, make a fake lastname or a fake town.
Here are the questions.
a. Name
b. Age
c. Race
d. Location (raised and currently) and whether that is a rural or urban area
e. What music do you listen to on a regular basis? Why?
f. Do you like country music? Why or why not?
g. Do you prefer older or contemporary country music? Why?
Thanks

I think Depp is a considerably better actor than Bale though. He's a bit of an oddball anyways. Most of his roles tend to be on the eccentric side, with some exceptions. For example, his performance in The Secret Window, was awesome, I thought. Yeah, he's crazy but, you don't know that till the latter parts of the film.
I've yet to see Bale deliver a performance that really blew me away but, he's not dead yet and he's still making movies. I'd like to see him reach that upper echelon but, he's not necessarily that young and with his rather hardcore methods in place, I doubt that he'll make that movie that wins him an Oscar.
My comparison with Reeves is because of their stoic natures and even somewhat similar appearances that they have with each other. Reeves really is a sub par actor at best, and I'd take Bale over him any day.
