I don't think anyone need worry about the power-pop thing. They are not going to turn into some daft poppy act, ok? Andres is right, they are Green Day, and it will sound like Green Day, you know, even if it builds off AI's sound? One thing we do know is that Billie said "We could take a sideways step or go back to our roots. We chose to move forward."
I know everyone's nervy, thinking "OMG I hope I like it, please tell me I won't be disappointed", I'm like that too, I was with all the old albums that I got after getting into them, but I've learned to have a lot of faith in the guys and so I find myself thinking "look, can I think of any Green Day song so far that I haven't liked? No, so what the heck am I worried about?"
Isn't it exciting to have so much suddenly happening though? I knew that Grammys presentation would be the start of it all. It's great to have so many places start to get excited with us now...
Alan: Oh, I absolutely love Irish music. U2, you know? Brilliant. That song they have, it's great. You wake up, you know you have to go to work tomorrow, the car won't start, the kids are running aorund everywhere... and you just think, "Sunday, Bloody Sunday!"
Irish TV Executive: ...Um, actually that song was about a massacre that happened in Dublin...
*awkward silence*
Alan: Well, that's a bit of a downer, isn't it?
