i went to the army briefing thing
they really should just get regular doors that don't have to be opened by pressing the buzzer i seen a few ppl come up to the door push it pull it bop it etc then press the buzzer after slightly embarrassing themselves
i know its army they gotta be secure n shit but like its just so inconvenient
i didnt have any problems tho
there was 8 people there, 6 other guys and one girl, while we was waiting in the lil waiting room thing everyone was super quiet and i thought it was kinda funny just how anxious you could tell we were, i guess i prefer everyone to be quiet like i am than talking and getting along well then me be the only one not getting involved which inevitably would have happened
then we go into this lil room the guy says what he's done in the army and how great its been and he said he'd been to iraq twice and afghanistan once and done training in canada, done rock climbing and cool sounding activities
then he asks us to stand up individually and say a little about ourselves
omg as soon as he said that i was just thinking are you ****ing kidding me this is my idea of hell talking in front of strangers like that
first guy did alright then i was second to do it and i was soo nervous like obviously im terrible at this thing, said my name said i worked with my dad then said what sorts of jobs we do, and said tiling twice bc im an idiot, i said which jobs i was doing then that was it, i probably said mine the fastest it was over in like 15 seconds, but everyone is in the same position i suppose, not many people actually like doing that thing, i don't think i was the worst, the girl was worst probs. but that was like the icebreaker that we would have to do if we go to the assessment centre, but we would have to talk for longer and about certain topics, and probably in front of more people.
then he played a couple videos of people training and getting ready for assessment centre, then another of the actual assessment centre training and what happens there in more detail. it looks tough. if you don't run the 1.5 mile in the certain time specific to what jobs you choose then you fail and get deferred for 3 to 6 months, then you can apply again.
there was a pencil and paper to take notes from the videos but all i wrote down was "practise icebreaker" ( so i'm not so nervous speaking in front of people ). "get fit" and " prepare". which isn't much but don't think many other people wrote much down.
the guy next to me was 23 but i swear he looked like he was in his late 20s he looked way older i thought wow shit hes 23 , we're the same age but he probably thinks im 12
in the video it mentioned that training is harder for women, because of the physical tests. it will be hard for me too because i'm small as well but i like to think i could manage if i bother to run regularly, i'm not going to get super army fit overnight as much as i'd like to.
thats about it, this is longer than i intended
tl;dr i want to army briefing, it was slightly terrifying
when i was getting the train back there was this girl, i think she might have liked me because she stood relatively close to me as we were waiting for the train she was so beautiful
she had a mac that she was using on the train, couldn't see what she was doing on it but like she was just way way pretty
she was blonde but that sort of blonde with a bit of brown and lighter bits of blonde in her hair yknow? and she had this cute watch and had nice clothes i should have said something to her
something like a normal person would say to start up casual conversation and not "marry me" like i was thinking
