I do all of my intricate thinking when I'm writing novels and attending university. I use this place to chill out when I have some time to kill. I guess 'analysis and brain usage' means different things to different people, though.
Originally posted by quanchi112Yeah, same. It's a good way to be. So that means speaking to some friends whilst doing work isn't all that silly, really, is it? And neither is talking about Star Wars (which I do actually still do with one of my mates quite a bit. Old habits rarely die).

Originally posted by ScribbleI don't find these off topic threads silly as this all boils down to what entertains us as individuals. My point was only that off topic threads where we can say anything is an easy path to multiple posts as opposed to posting feats, counter arguments, etc. on the average.

Originally posted by quanchi112I get that. I don't really like debating online, though. I prefer doing it in person, online I find it all feels stilted, and there's a much higher chance of shit-slinging on all sides.

Originally posted by ScribbleThe topics I've covered here never get as intricate in real life and the people I hang out with would never want to talk about this more than five minutes. They simply don't care. People who come here care. It's all about the passion.

Yeah, that's a fair point. I could probably find people online somewhere who share my passion for music more than most other people I meet, and actually talk about stuff I enjoy talking about. I guess it's just not for me, though. I prefer shitposting, it's somewhat cathartic. I like this thread because it reads like a surreal stream-of-consciousness, and you can dip in and out without missing anything major.

That isn't the only thing people post on but a versus thread requires analysis and brain usage unlike hey there's a tater tot.
Hey man let's be real, most of the stuff you post over in the versus thread is talking about Rob's butt, telling people they "want it in the butt" or something, and telling people to "go cry."
