All these people are buying Gibsons but once every while Epiphone comes out with a model that is near indistinguishable, so there's no need to spend 500-1000 more. Epiphone and Squier get a bad rep for being ''budget models'' but they have some good, solid guitars.

Yeah, I've got an Epi Les Paul that does the trick. Nothing special, but I have played a few Epi's that I've preferred to most real Gibbys I've played. There was one with active pickups and a maple fretboard that comes to mind, it was a ****ing dream to play. I'm more of a Fender guy, though.
